Championship Coordinators

Championship Coordinators information.

The Racing Carbon Neutral Platform is primarily designed to help individual Race Car Owners and competitors offset their season’s carbon emissions through the purchase of Carbon Offset Credits.

Although the process is completed by the individual competitors, the information within the platform is entered either by the Racing Carbon Neutral team, or individual Championship Coordinators and organisers.

The registration of a Race Series and the use of the Racing Carbon Neutral platform is free to all Series Coordinators.

When registering a Championship with the Carbon Racing Neutral Platform, organisers can enter the details of the season’s events, which include dates, number of races and tests, length of races and quantity of tyres used.

Once a series is registered onto the platform, Coordinators are notified when competitors join and purchase their offset credits.

We have designed the system to allow Coordinators to keep track of competitors with the hope that going forward, Championships will push towards becoming Carbon Neutral by making the offset of carbon emissions mandatory for all teams and competitors.

Championship Coordinators Carbon Neutral Promotion.

With the World pushing towards Net Zero and Carbon Neutrality, Motorsport is still looked at as a major contributor to Global Warming, with high carbon emissions, and the heavy use of non-sustainable materials.

This comes not only from the actual races themselves, but from the transportation of equipment around the globe throughout the season, and fans and supporters travelling to and from events.

By offering competitors the ability to offset their carbon emissions for a complete season in one easy to complete transaction, we are in-turn helping Championships begin the process of becoming Carbon Neutral.

Once Championship Organisers can say that they are making efforts to reduce their Carbon Emissions and are pushing to ultimately become Carbon Neutral, they make themselves much more attractive to Sponsors and Commercial Partners who may have had reservations supporting a Motorsport based activity in the past.

By registering your Race Series with the Racing Carbon Neutral Platform, we can all help promote the continued push towards Carbon Neutral Motorsport.

Global warming and Climate Change

The 2018 IPCC report confirmed that at the current rate of change, the world could become 1.5 °C hotter as soon as 2030. That’s less than a decade from now, well within the lifespan of most people alive today.

1.5 °C might not sound like a big increase, but it can be the difference between life and death for thousands of people.

The Earth has always had natural cooling and warming cycles, but nothing like we are experiencing now. The hottest 5 years on record are 2016, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2014.

Rising temperatures aren’t just responsible for the planet getting hotter. Our planet’s climate is very complex, a small rise in the average global temperature can mean big changes to our ecosystem, with devastating side effects.

97% of Scientists agree that climate change is being caused by human greenhouse gas emissions.

If we pay attention to what the scientists and frontline communities are telling us, the message is clear, Humans are causing the rapid onset of climate change, which is already bringing costly impacts across the world.

When you purchase Carbon Offset Credits through Racing Carbon Neutral you are supporting UNFCCC certified projects that reduce, avoid, or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.

The environmental benefit of CERs can be claimed to offset or compensate your own greenhouse gas emissions produced through your participation in Motorsport.

Carbon Offset Credits, how do they work?

When you purchase Carbon Offset Credits through Racing Carbon Neutral you are supporting UNFCCC certified projects that reduce, avoid, or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. The projects are implemented in developing countries and are rewarded with Certified Emission Reductions (CER’s), a type of carbon offset measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

Certified emission reductions (CERs) are earned by greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation projects in developing countries after a rigorous verification process.

By purchasing and cancelling CERs through our platform, you claim their environmental benefit. The CERs are put out of circulation, blocking them for further use. In this way, you are responding to the challenge of climate change and helping our society move closer to global climate neutrality (zero net impact on the climate). In addition, you are supporting worthy projects that bring sustainable development benefits to developing countries.

CERs are recorded and tracked in electronic databases know as emissions registries. The CERs purchased through our platform are recorded and tracked in the clean development mechanism (CDM) registry operated by the UN Climate Change secretariat. Voluntary cancellation, also referred to as cancellation, is the process in the CDM registry by which CERs are taken out of circulation, preventing any further use. It is similar to destroying them or marking them so they can no longer be used.

Certified emission reductions or CERs are electronic certificates issued for greenhouse gas emission reductions from clean development mechanism (CDM) project activities or programs of activities (PoAs) in accordance with the CDM rules and requirements. Each CER is equivalent to one metric tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2e) avoided or removed from the atmosphere.

The environmental benefit of CERs can be claimed to offset or compensate your own greenhouse gas emissions produced through your participation in Motorsport.
